Samba ambika dogra , July 20: Apni Party on Monday reiterated its demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as the party’s core issue.
According to a press release, a meeting of the Apni Party was held in Vijaypur under the leadership of former Minister and Provincial President of the party, S. Manjit Singh, to discuss the evolving political situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the meeting, Singh alleged that the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir and the BJP in the Jammu region had misled the people with “hollow slogans” that largely remained unfulfilled, leaving the public to suffer due to administrative shortcomings.
The meeting also discussed growing public resentment over what party leaders described as the failures of the present government on various fronts. Participants reiterated that the restoration of statehood remains the Apni Party’s foremost political demand.
Singh further alleged that the National Conference had failed to safeguard the interests of the people and said history would not forget what he termed its “betrayal” of the people of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, which was reorganised into the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
He claimed that the Apni Party was the first political party in Jammu and Kashmir to launch a movement for the restoration of statehood following its formation on March 8, 2020.
The meeting also deliberated on issues related to development, employment and public welfare.
Among those present were District President Raman Thappa, spokesperson Adv. Sahil Bharti, Senior Vice President (Samba) Ex-Sarpanch Joginder Lal, Block President Ramgarh Choudhary Bachan Lal, Block President Vijaypur Capt. Mohan Lal Sharma, Block President Bari Brahmana Babu Ram Bhagat, District Secretary Ashok Bhagat, Brij Mohan Dutta, Dr. Nitin Sharma, District President SC Wing Ex-Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Pawan Kumar and other party workers.
